Dr. Fabian Gaus is a Managing Director and acting Chief Financial Officer of Georgia Biomass. His responsibilities include Finance, Accounting, HR, IT, Commercial and Sales. Together with Mark Gaddy, Fabian manages the US wood pellet business for the German parent company innogy SE.
Before joining Georgia Biomass Fabian was the Head of Procurement for all Operations & Maintenance (O&M) of the renewable power generation business at RWE Group and its subsidiary innogy SE. RWE is one of Europe’s leading utility companies with € 48 billion revenues and 49 gigawatts installed power plant capacity. Fabian acted as the responsible procurement manager for an operated power plant capacity of around 4,500 megawatts in wind power, biogas, biomass and hydroelectric power. His procurement team operated out of 12 locations and served innogy’s home markets in Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, as well as Spain, Poland, Italy and France. In addition to that role, Fabian managed RWE’s procurement activities for pipes, valves and fittings for hard coal, lignite, gas and nuclear power stations across Europe.
Prior to his Procurement career Fabian had worked for different management consultancies. He managed strategy projects in the utility and oil & gas industries for RWE and DEA in the fields of change and growth. Before that Fabian’s focus was on the manufacturing industry. In projects for large-scale OEMs like Rolls-Royce, Volkswagen or Phoenix Contact he primarily optimized organizations, processes and cost structures and was a well-known change leader and expert in the lean management practice.
Fabian holds a Ph.D. degree in Production Management and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. His academic career includes numerous book and paper publications. Cooperation with internationally renowned universities has shaped his profile, including the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, the University of New South Wales as well as Waseda University.
